It’s been a long journey in finding myself. Over the years I have gained experience in many different fields, including but not limited to being a Girl Scout, an Assistant Dance Teacher, a Waitress/Hostess/Busser/Snack Stand Attendant/Cart Girl, a Trampoline Attendant, a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor, a Private Security Officer, an Athletics Manager, a Mail Carrier, a Barista, an Intern at a Correction Facility, a Lead Teacher, a Production Assistant, a Certified Social Worker, an Animal Sitter, a Salesperson, a Food Delivery Person, a Nanny/Babysitter, an Academic Editor/Proofreader, and now an Entrepreneur/Business Owner. In all my years I spent trying to find a career that best suited me, my main goal was always to help people.
I tried starting my business once before, when my grandma was still alive and not much came of it at the time, but my number one supporter was always my grandma, Gaggy. I had put my business on pause for a while, in the process of figuring myself out. In that time, Gaggy was diagnosed with Lung Cancer after courageously battling Fibromyalgia for years. When she got diagnosed, I was dedicated to taking care of her and helping her heal. In becoming her caretaker, I discovered my intense passion for health and nutrition. As much as I was trying to figure out my path in life, she was also trying to help me. When she was in the hospital, watching me so intently going over her scans, she exclaimed, "This means something!" referring to my future in medicine.
Soon after she passed I declared I was going to pursue my career in health and nutrition, until I came up with the idea to reopen my business but in honor of Gaggy and her essence. I thought I could take all the things I love, helping/inspiring people, creating, mindfulness, health and nutrition, spirituality, sustainability, and of course, Gaggy, and put it all into one. Gaggy's Essence is not just a store, but a place to learn, to grow, to think, to love, and to be- one with yourself and everything around you. Every item I create I put my heart and soul into. My purpose is for my customers to feel the love I put into each item and be able to carry that with them.
Some of my fondest memories when I was a child were doing arts and crafts with Gaggy, and I try to embody that childlike creativity in my crafting to this day. My memories of doing arts and crafts with her inspire my handmade items, and curated vintage/wholesale items are inspired by Gaggy herself and our many trips to stores specializing in South Asian attire. I know that one of her last intentions, was to help me figure out my purpose. She never cared what it was or how long it was taking me to get there, but she wanted to see me happy and fulfilled with what I was doing in my life. I know now, she's overjoyed with me and so proud of the business we created together. I owe it all to you Gaggy.
